Hey Booksellers! We Salute You!

After 15 years working in bookstores small, medium-sized and ginormous, I know the delightful pain and painful delight that comes with a life lived behind a cash register and around the shelving carts. Booksellers are a proud and playful breed, eager for affection and ever prepared for glory. Booksellers are on the front lines and the trenches of the book trade, and we here at The Overlook Press *salute you*. To show our affection for you, show your affection for us, gentle bookfolk! Display some Overlook books and send us a camera-phone photo. And we will bestow upon you not just blog-fame, but an Overlook book of your choosing. Mind you, that's 35 years of independent publishing booty to sort through! Not a shabby offer. Send photos of displays (with booksellers posed genially or flashing secret gangster hand-signals) to theoverlookpress at gmail dot com. We love books _and_ book marketing here at the W.Elephant! And we honor those who get our books into the hands of readers everyday. Above meet Heather from McIntyre & Moore in Davis Sq. Somerville, MA (one of my old haunts). Let's say she is replenishing the shelf with more copies of David Shapiro's Selected Poems, for arguments sake. Cheers to you, Heather! The long journey to a book sometimes takes a short step onto a stool-thingie! We'll see your pictures on our funny pages!
