Critic Bob Minzesheimer notes: "The Ballad of Blind Tom Wiggins, Slave Pianist (Overlook, $24.95) by Deirdre O'Connell re-creates the life and times of a former slave who may or may not have been autistic. Wiggins, who died in 1908, performed throughout the world and was able to reproduce any piece of music after a single listening."
