LADY GAGA: BEHIND THE FAME On Sale March 3

The rumors are true: Overlook Press is publishing the first biography of the world’s favorite pop star. Lady Gaga: Behind the Fame, by Emily Herbert, will be published on March 3, 2010.

Carolyn Kellogg of The Los Angeles Times reports on the news for Jacket Copy: "Was it the crazy headgear? The cage-like dresses? The sculptural hairdos? The multiple Grammy Awards?

Something got the attention of the Overlook Press, which has announced it will publish the first (if unauthorized) biography of Lady Gaga. The book "Lady Gaga: Behind the Fame" will tell the story of 23-year-old Stefani Germanotta, Catholic school girl turned go-go dancer.

Due to hit shelves early next month, the book will be 288 pages, 32 of which will be devoted to photos. The news release states that this "inspiring story" will be an "intimate look into the music, fashion, art and life of the first Lady of pop." Don't tell Madonna. Or Beyonce. Or any other contenders for pop's first Lady.

The Overlook Press has published many biographies, focusing on creative types as diverse as William Faulkner, Ewan McGregor, Virginia Wolfe and British singing phenomenon Susan Boyle.

How will its Lady Gaga bio compare?

All I know is I hope it comes in a sparkly, lightning-bolt cage."

AWESOME! I want it! Too bad it is unauthorized. Still there are many questions that I would like answered. The music business is cookie cutter and boring-how does Gaga get away with her wild art, fashion, and film? Does she have to battle music industry people all the time to get what she wants? What were the course of events that lead her to stardom? Yes, she has major talent, but often that is not enough. Is it luck? A combo of luck, hard work, and talent? Is the music business robbing her now or is she making a good living in spite of her expenses and what is likely a 360 deal with her record label/management? Who paid when she performed on the BMI stage at Lollapalooza? I was at that show, and pop music or not, that was one CRAZY FUN OUTRAGEOUS show! Her music is excellent, yet it is often not mentioned in the press. Why? Will her circle of artist friends be mentioned in the book? Surely, Lady Starlight will be mentioned! What was the Gog-ster like as a teenager? I think the reason the Overlook Press is offering the book is obvious-there is a ready-made crazed fan base ready to buy. I hope this is not a slap dash fast buck job and is more thoughtful. One day a great interviewer will sit down with Gaga and dig deep. I find Gaga to be a fascinating artist. She has just begun. She is capable of GREAT things. You may not believe it, but then, you do not know her!

I hope Overlook Press does their research, especially on the management company, whose client was R. Fusari, who signed Gaga to Def Jam, introduced Stefani to RedOne to create a new unique sound and brought her to Interscope. This brilliant conception thru this trail is what made Lady Gaga, and it's "the man behind the attention-seekers". Let's hope for the real story, or the real story will be published later.

My 13 year old son is interested in reading it. Is it appropriate for this age? What questionable events or language or themes might it have?

She is my roll-model. Not that I want to be an artist, but I love her thinkings and inspirations. I bought this book couple of days ago, but is takes a week for shipping. -Aaron South Korea

This book had lots of great information but if you don't understand english terms, you might not like it. I started to think that this book was favoring england after a while though...

This book is amazing and so inspiring. I did see a little mistake, but i could be totally wrong...It stated that she performed at the 2008 VMA's? Well besides that, if it was a mistake or if it was my eyes lying, it's amazing and accurate and will give you artistic perspective on her while learning about her life.
