As all of us at Overlook recover from this week's events, our thoughts go out to the families and individuals throughout the country who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. We hope that everyone remains safe in the days and weeks to come.
With power outages persisting throughout lower Manhattan, Overlook will remain closed until electricity is restored to our SoHo office. Although our network servers are down, leaving us without access to Overlook email and phones, if you need to get in touch for any reason we are still reachable through social media (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr) and email (theoverlookpress@gmail.com) and can filter messages to individual staff members through personal email and cell phones.
We are pleased to report that although Overlookers are currently out of office, New York's book community is alive and thriving. We are inspired by our peers who have rallied to return to work and continue keeping our city's readers stocked with great material. As everyone strives to return to normalcy, we hope that you'll be able to find some time to visit your local bookstore or curl up at home with a comforting read. Let us know if you need any recommendations! While we're out of the office this week, we're catching up on our reading with James Salzman's DRINKING WATER, which offers an incredibly relevant look at the turbulent history and future of H2O, as well as the new paperback reissue of MacDonald Harris's THE BALLOONIST, which received a glowing review last weekend in the Wall Street Journal.
