'The Company' in good company

Some actors have been cast for the upcoming 6-part miniseries of Robert Littell's THE COMPANY that will air on TNT in 2007. According to imdb.com, Michael Keaton, Chris O'Donnell, Alfred Molina, and Tom Hollandsworth have been tapped for roles. If you're thinking what I'm thinking, it looks like we have Batman, Robin, Dr. Otto "Doc Ock" Octavius on board already, so all we need to do is fill out the rest of the cast with X-Men.

At any rate, it looks like it's shaping up, and under the watchful eye of Ridley Scott and a script by Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down), one would expect nothing less.

Littell's upcoming novel, VICIOUS CIRCLE, will come out October 10th of this year, and (sadly) echos today's headlines. Kirkus, who gave it a starred review in it's July 15 issue, describes it like so:

Suspenseful and serious thriller from Littell (Legends, 2005, etc.) depicts the Middle East as a place in which positions are depressingly circular, behavior remorselessly vicious.

Fundamentalist rabbi Isaac Apfulbaum gets himself kidnapped by fundamentalist terrorist Dr. Isma'l al-Shaath, triggering a crisis noteworthy even in that crisis-ridden land. The ensuing demands follow a familiar enough pattern. The Israeli government, it's told, must release scores of Palestinian prisoners. Failure to do so will result in the rabbi's execution. Of course, the deadline is tight...

Authoritative, sharply observed, remarkably evenhanded—neither side gets a free pass here—and, as usual, first-rate.
